Tuna Festival of General Santos City Celebrates its 10th Year

Over all, it was fun. It was a holiday here in our small city. We have made sure that many people will be enjoying the festivities and so the parade began with these beauties...

While on the roadway, these youth are dancing to the tune the float is sharing, They are students of a certain school here in the city, they make up the Culinary Expo which was done in a big mall atrium here. I will have to post it when the pics are already resized so I could show you the things that happened at the Tuna Culinary Expo.

Syokoy (merman), sirena (mermaids), are being depicted as members of the Waterworld, and so they act as characters in the Tuna Festival too. Some claim these creatures were true as to their experience while fishing the waters of the city.

Big big tuna, some as heavy as 150 kilograms are being hauled to the ships. These make up the reality that indeed Tuna Industry is the main living of some fishermen here in our city. Although many have already invested into different businesses, and while some are into other the food business, tuna is still the main ingredient. Most restaurants here offer tuna as the special delicacy. You can't leave the city without tasting the Tuna Speacialties.

Floats are presented and judged according to its indigenous theme, and still bearing the wrap-up Tuna Theme.
Peace to all, a decadeof Fishtivities and Oppotunaties have been reflected in this year's theme. While we are yet the only one celbrating the Tuna Festival in the globe, many are already considering this Festival as one in gratitude to the bounties of the sea. Like us inthe city, we thankfully honor the Sea who gives us these bounties, and the Creator of the Sea, granting us these graces, because if not for Him, there would never have been a Tuna Festival in the city.

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you learned from this.

My prize.... "EAT ALL YOU CAN" hahahahaha... para bang ang lakas kung kumain, di ko nga maubos isang platitong sashimi.

A Tuna Festival? I have never heard of such a thing! But I enjoyed the pictures :) Very very colourful and it looks like a lot of fun. Maybe it will become as famous as Tomatina Festival in Italy (although I don't think we should suggest people to throw tuna at each other). I really miss filipino festivals.

It's colorful and reminded me of Panagbenga festival. Ayan na naman, I miss Gensan's tuna. Thanks for posting this, Sheng. =)

I don't know who the author of this blog is, but if you really practice journalism ethics, you should have quoted the entire article and not claim it as your own. My name is Edgar Cadiente and I authored the original article which you copied intoto with your byline.

I wish you had some decency.
