It's been a promise I have to keep, I plurked about this landscaping job, and some friends wanted me to post it. So here it is, I will now share with you what I and hubby have busied ourselves with, over the start of summer. After the long months of doing extra work with school souvenir programs, we gave ourselves one project that we must complete before all our earnings fail to give us evidence that we worked. So that holy week, when most people were on the beach and enjoying the waters, we were enjoying the dust and the grass. We were doing our very own landscaping job. The start of the Christmas season brought me to my noses. Yes, you heard it right, because from time to time, I would touch my nose and sniff. It's been a long while that I have not had any cold, or any fever, but when bacteria attacks, be careful, they attack the kids first. We do have a crazy weather here, and I don't know how to figure this crazy weather out. It is scorching hot in the mornings till noon, and rains in the afternoon, while it's awfully cold especially in the wee mornings. My boy was the first attacked by the flu, next is Tabebs, and now, it's my turn. I'm just thankful that my kids didn't have some serious colds, i was able to give them a few drops of the medication and they're up and about. No one can pretend to be the PAGASA by just checking the clouds for it will only be a disappointment. So just to be sure, here are a few tips. 1. We started preparing at 7am, and we were on our way there by 10am. 2 hours of traffic and black smoke from the coastal to Dasmariñas. We arrived at past 12, just about ready for lunch. We traversed hell to get through heaven... But this I'll say, one of the reasons I would love to go back to Luzon, aside from seeing friends and the luxury of travel... the cold breeze kissing your nose the wonderful smell of the few pines you pass through the gentle air that blows your way while seeing lovely lush green scenery the beauty of nature, a reminder of God's love... and the hope that someday, this beauty remains for the generations to come. I have heard news about the prices of vegetables in Luzon. When I was there, I wasn't able to visit markets because i was too preoccupied with meeting writers which was actually the reason for my trip. When I got home after one meeting, I was surprised that Medy (an officemate assigned in MM Branch) was done with her shopping. I really wanted to go with her so I could at least explore Luzon markets. But they were already opening grocery bags and I joined in the hullabaloo. On the table was laid veggies that I could not contain my surprise at the prices of the veggies. cabbage head: P37.9 2 carrots: P29.8 2 pieces sayote: P32.6 I was shocked. Yes, correct term to use because I was actually more shocked than I was surprised at what I saw. Question: Why was I shocked? Answer: Because, ladies and gentlemen, these prices are double, even triple the prices of these veggies in General Santos! For real! I did what I could to help save HER, but many people ignored HER plea to be heard. Now, it's her wrath slashing the people, and they thought it's HER evil deeds. I find it crazy that people think when Ondoy and Pepeng slashed out their fury over Luzon, it was acts of God. Because definitely it is not! It is our own doing. You ask me what I have contributed to help save Mother Nature. I did many. I planted trees, reused plastics, reduced my paper consumption as I am prone to be using more of that, but I considered using the blank reverses of the manuscripts in order to keep me from using new sheets. We have a number of 1.5 litres Coke plastic bottles which I have converted as a hanging pot for my orchids, and I did more than that. Rescue, relief, re-establishment. These three are the things needed by our friends in Luzon. They may have suffered a lot because of Ondoy's aftermath, but life must go on. Who are we to question God? It is up to us on how we must pick up our lives after every fall, and how we deal with it. Compassion is a human emotion prompted by the pain of others. More vigorous than empathy , the feeling commonly gives rise to an active desire to alleviate another's suffering. So is this Manny Villar's way of showing compassion to a suffering nation? Shifting from one channel to another, torrential rains and water is on the news. Yes, water, floodwater. I feel sincere pity to those greatly affected by this disaster. Although i feel their pain, i can do nothing but wait and pray that they are fine and out of harm's way. I have blogger friends there, but I don't know of relatives who are residing in the areas affected by the flood. I have close friends too who are there for such a wrong timing. I was even invited to join them for the Bar Opps. They came in Friday and Saturday was a shocking state to them as Manila is greatly flooded and the downpour just won't stop. Worst of all, the bar exams is scheduled for the next Sunday, and they can do nothing about it but get their lives out of the metro as soon as the flights in the airport are back to normal. Lately, I haven't been going out of our house, except when I go to the office, do some errands, or visit the malls. I just don't feel like going out because the HEAT is killing me. It's scorching HOT outside and my migraine is killing me whenever the excruciating HEAT is ON! While it is true that trees give us shade and provide us with what we basically need and that is oxygen , people in the MMDA seem not to notice this fact. I have never been to Manila for a long long time, and I don't know how bad it has come. I can only imagine myself hustling on the walks because of the heavy traffic, and anxious that MMDA will catch me jaywalking even if I'm on the right track. If there's one thing I hate about the MMDA, it has come to this point that they cut trees because of the traffic.
