The Great Move to a New Comfort Zone

Image
If there is anything I would like to be thankful for this year, it is the new Regional Director's decision to put up an new Field Office for Sarangani Province. Though at first I was apprehensive at what may be the outcome of such creation as the constituents of Sarangani Province are already settled with the idea that they must go to General Santos for their DOLE needs, I am at the same time challenged by the fact that a lot of eyes in the DOLE Regional Office must be watching us in the performance of our duties. It is a challenge in the sense that I and a colleague, plus the boss, will be handling all the DOLE programs and services hands down. I have two full hands when it comes to the programs at my disposal. Programs that I never dreamed of holding, but now, they're mine to perform and implement. What's more challenging is that, I will be handling Livelihood Assistance to the constituents of the province. It's not easy because you have to be careful with your b...

My New Role in DOLE 12 - Regional Office

Image
As you all know, I just got my regular item in the Department of Labor and Employment last September, and words were out that I was gonna be assigned at the regional office which is in Koronadal City, an hour of bus ride away from GenSan. It's a hassle for me to be going home daily to beat the traffic and the time for work, but there is no choice as I have to follow marching orders to be there on October 3 as my first day of duty at the regional office. It's just an hour, inisip ko na lang, parang Makati to Manila lang ang byahe ko, hahaha. Mas worse pa nga ata dun sa Luzon. Words were not only hearsays, I have confirmed too, that I am going to be secretary to the regional director. Something which I still cannot believe, the regional director trusting me with all things personal and office-related is a big job for me, a work which is many levels higher than my previous job as a Skills Registry encoder, or my job as editor in my previous employer. When I got welcomed in the off...

Makeup or no Makeup?

Image
Despite friends' further urge on making myself a lot more presentable to others, and despite the words I got from friends not to dress like my man, I still have not done anything to improve my looks. Maybe because I am just busy with other stuff, or am I just too lazy to learn putting color on my face and dressing up like some goddess, haha. We attended a one night DOLE Family Day at the beach with a Luau theme, but I have not done anything to look like I am in a Hawaiian party, ugh. I only wore a not-so-skimpy shorts with a flowery (not even) shirt top. And so I think, I must invest some time learning the color schemes and the brushes and the strokes in order to put some color on my face and ask advice from fashion gurus on which dresses I should wear and what not to. My hair is a big mess nowadays, if not in pony tail, it's tucked with a clamp. But then again, I still feel so comfortable with just the ordinary me. Yet, I'd still love a new look, yes. So, someday soon, I...

Insomniac or What?

Image
It’s been two nights already. I sleep at 10, and woke up just in time for the husband to sleep at 12. I can no longer go back to sleep, I just had to write, so this post, as you should know is written exactly 1:07 AM in our clock. It’s a good thing it’s the long weekend, so I could just sleep whole day. I do not know what is the matter with me. My eyes are tired but my mind just cannot stop thinking. I am afraid it will soon be overheat with too much thinking and brain drain. The past days has been very glorious days, so I think the excitement about my being hired as regular in the government office has already wound down. I am not as excited anymore, but yes, admittedly, I am nervous of what the future will be. I will be assigned in a different location, 45 minutes ride away from home and being assigned there will entail a lot of sacrifices for my kids. I will have to sacrifice being the proud mom who will pin their ribbons of excellence as I can no longer do so, unless I ta...

When it Rains, It Pours

My prayers have been answered, and I am very grateful to the Lord for keeping HIS promises to me, that He will never leave me, and He will grant all that I desire for as long as I trust in HIM. The year 2010 has been a year of misfortunes for me, I resigned from work due to a weary environment with my previous employer, it was the year when everything seemed without a direction. Sure, I had blessings crossing my way, but I have always wanted a job that will provide me security of tenure, good pay, and an unstressful environment where I could help many people by way of service. And with my copyreading job, it has not been materialized. I have been hopeful, and I remember posting what I felt during that time , times when I felt I could not get through the tunnel. And now my friends, 2011 seems like the beginning of a new adventure for me. I told you I was aiming for a regular post in the government. All of my good friends know how much I have devoted my time giving my best shot ...

Stressed is Desserts Spelled Backswards

Image
I just made 3 huge trays of this after I was gifted a basketful of ripe mangoes. And guess what? Di umabot ng dalawang araw, ubos. My kids love mango float, and I just can't pretend that I don't like it because it tops my desserts list. I (ahem) make a sinfully delicious batch if I have the time and the ingredients in my pantry. Yesterday, I bought another batch of ingredients and hopes to drop by the public market today for another bunch of ripe mangoes. Desserts? Mango float and macaroni salad. Smoothies? Mango shake and strawberry smoothies. Pasta? Any pasta or a nice white sauce carbonara. What tops your comfort foods? Oh, and please, if you have time, you might want to nominate me for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2011. I have been running on the top blogs, and I appeal to you to include me if you think I deserve a chance to be one. Thanks.

Me, Now

Image
Now, off to other positive things to blog about, I am feeling a little better now. I have to get better or else, I will continue feeling pain all over my body and having hoarse voice and having palpitations running after my runny nose, ack! Things are fine in the office and things are fine at home except that my kids will be going to Iloilo for a short vacation together with their granny. We will be sending the three of them off to Davao on Saturday, that makes us enjoy more of Davao (which I really missed) on a Sunday. They will be back after two weeks, so a little play while they are away is a welcome respite from waking up early to cook their breakfast. Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, and I vowed to limit my online activities as part of my semi-abstinence. I made good, I dunno how long that can hold though. I am not Catholic but having to limit online presence and trying to get more of HIS presence is more than welcome for me, reflecting life and what it has to offer. March is a busy ...

My Walking Partner, My Espadrilles

Image
I was using them in high school, and when I was in college, a very close friend influenced me again to use espadrilles. Then it went out of trend, and I used different footwear that I felt comfortable with, but nothing beats the comfort that espadrilles gave me. And now, it is back. The moment I saw one, I desperately asked a guy where he bought his pair, and I was awed at the many espadrilles a certain store here in our place displayed, which he pointed. I bought one from the husband's office mate, but it took her time to deliver the pair I ordered, and so I have to wait. Until last December, the husband surprised me with my blue pair, and it never left my feet whenever I go out. But then again, since I am working in a government office with a color-coding uniform I have to conform to, I have to wear some close pair with heels, to which I am really not fond of, but have to. But yes, I still love my espadrilles and use it when I go out, even during free days in the office when I am...

An Evaluation on my 2010

Image
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU! This year has been generally good to me and my family. To enumerate the things I have had the opportunity of having, I checked my oldest post regarding the 2010, and here's what I got. Evaluating what I wanted and what happened the whole year round. 1. Be debt-free before 2011. - Well, so far as my debts have turned out to be lessened, but not really debt-free yet. And 2011 is just a few days away so I think this one's impossible to rush already. And besides, the bills are just there. Oh my! 2. Hopefully, to get myself a new job. - Done, I got a new job, nope, make it 2. An online job and one that's true, but it's only temporary, so I am crossing my fingers to a permanent post come 2011. *Help me pray for this one, please. * 3. To discipline myself that a daily exercise is important. - Major PHAIL! Hahaha, I have been too busy and too LAZY. 4. Read as many books as I can. - Uh-oh, the busy schedule got to me, I think I read the least ...
